Directional drilling is a staple of the drilling industry, providing accurate access to underground conduits other excavation methods cannot.
Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) installs conduit under roads, rivers and established infrastructure without opening a trench. A pilot bore is steered along a planned path, then reamed to size and the product pipe pulled back through.
Because the surface stays intact, HDD is the method of choice where traffic, landscaping or waterways make open trenching impractical. Rigs like our Vermeer 40×55 S3 and Ditch Witch AT40 handle everything from residential lead-ins to rock bores carrying five conduits at once.
See our directional drilling and underboring services for more detail.
