The Different Methods of Cable and Pipe Locating

To locate gas, water, telecommunications, stormwater, electricity and sewer services, you need the correct locating procedure.

Striking an unmarked service is the most expensive mistake an excavation crew can make. Locating comes first on every job: gas, water, telecommunications, stormwater, electricity and sewer services all need to be found and proven before digging starts.

Electronic locating traces conductive services from the surface; ground-penetrating radar finds non-conductive pipes and unknown obstructions; and vacuum excavation exposes the service itself — proof by sight, known as potholing.

Our cable and pipe locating crews are Telstra APL accredited and combine all three methods on every locate.
